The U.S. bishops, in their Respect Life Month resources, point to Mary as “our model for upholding the sanctity of all human life.”
“In becoming the mother of Jesus, Mary becomes the mother of life.” “Mary’s acceptance in this unforeseen moment demonstrates how each of us must welcome the gift of new human life, even when that gift is unexpected or calls us to make sacrifices.”
This reflection unpacks this year’s theme, “Mary, Mother of Life,” demonstrating how the life of the Blessed Mother teaches us to respect each human life in every stage and circumstance.

The Saint Jerome Library has recently received two new books that are pertinent to current issues.
Magnifica Humanitas (Magnificent Humanity) by Pope Leo XIV. The book focuses on safeguarding the people in the time of artificial intelligence. It can be found in the classification ENCYCLICALS AND PAPAL DOCUMENTS. The Dewey Decimal number is 262 LEO.
Thomas Aquinas on War and Peace by Gregory Reichberg. This book presents Saint Thomas Aquinas’s views on war, and whether there can be a ‘Just War.’ It can be found in the classification APOLOGETICS, Dewey Decimal number 239 REI.
The Saint Jerome Library staff welcome recommendations for specific books as well as requests for books on specific topics.
In honor of St. Francis of Assisi’s Feast day, the Ladies of Charity are collecting pet food donations for the Animeals program.
This program was started by Meals on Wheels to benefit their recipients who have pets. They did not want their recipients to have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their precious pets.
You can help by placing dog food (15 lbs. max), cat food or treats in the collection box in the Commons.
